07 Jun Micro-Hydro System Improvements
We have recently improved the micro hydro system at Laughing Waters to increase the amount of renewable energy we are able to generate. We are now producing electricity from the stream at about 2-3 times the amount needed to run the retreat center, with the excess being sold back to the grid. This project has certainly been a challenge to get all the various components working together properly, and with all the big rainstorms lately, we have been cleaning out the intake frequently. But for now, the turbine is finally running smoothly and the pond is full of water. Now we can begin thinking about stocking it with some trout!
