New Trail Fence in the Orchard

New Trail Fence in the Orchard

We just completed building a new fence for the hiking trail that goes around the apple orchard headed up Little Bearwallow Mountain. We used locust posts and rails collected from dead trees on the land. After we cut and hauled the wood, we drilled the holes with an auger, put in the posts and then added on the rails. It was a lot of work but fun,  and it turned out looking like it has been there for a hundred years. The hikers are already using it and they happily thanked us and told us how much they enjoy the trail.orchard new trail fence 1orchard new trail fence 6

Walked along the path down to the waterfalls below and the “fence line” is charming and well done. The grass was nicely mowed and it was like walking along a Swiss trail. Thanks so much!
