Improving the Microhydro System at Laughing Waters

This winter we are working on the microhydro system to improve its efficiency. This week we are increasing the capacity of the silt collection tank, so we can store more water with less turbulence. We are also making a more sturdy metal intake since our wooden one was washed away during the intense rainstorm we had recently, where the stream rose 4 feet in less than 2 hours. We are discovering that making energy from water is a lot more involved than sun shining on a solar panel!
